Phil Bartlett Receives Rising Ride Award from Maine People's Alliance

Senator Phil Bartlett (D-Gorham, Scarborough, Westbrook) was honored
by the Maine People's Alliance at its annual Rising Tide Dinner on
May 19th. The Maine People's Alliance (MPA) is a non-profit, non-partisan
citizen action organization with over 25,000 members. MPA works to
involve citizens in the the democratic process, to help them develop
leadership skills to work for positive social change, and to strengthen
their participation in decision-making processes that affect their
lives.
Bartlett was given the Rising Tide Award for legislative leadership.
Jacquie Murphy, a constituent and member of MPA, presented Bartlett
with the award and remarked on his strong support for expanding
access to affordable health care, his leadership in sponsoring
legislation to improve energy efficiency and promote renewable
energy in Maine, and his commitment to spending time with constituents
to hear their concerns.

It is truly an honor to receive this award from an organization
so committed to giving every person a voice in our democratic process," said
Bartlett. "There are few organizations with such committed
activitists and effective organizers as found at the Maine People's
Alliance."
Bartlett is completing his first term in the Maine Senate. He chairs
the Utilities and Energy Committee and serves on the Labor Committee
and the Government Oversight Committee.
