Phil Bartlett Endorsed by Maine Education Association
September 18, 2006
Incumbent Senator Phil Bartlett has received the endorsement of the
Maine Education Association (MEA) in his bid for reelection in Senate
District 6, which includes Gorham, Scarborough and Westbrook.
“
Phil Bartlett has proven to be a friend of education who listens
to Maine voters and Maine educators,” said Chris Galgay, President
of the Maine Education Association. “His record of support
for public education speaks for itself.”
“
I am pleased to receive the MEA’s endorsement,” said Bartlett. “A
strong public education system, from kindergarten through college,
is essential to building a robust economy.”
Bartlett, who is completing his first term in the Maine
Senate, graduated from Gorham High School in 1994 before
going on
to Tufts University and Harvard Law School. “I was fortunate
to have wonderful teachers who challenged me, encouraged
me, and prepared
me for college,” said Bartlett. “It is important
that we continue to strive for excellence in our public schools
to
maximize the opportunities available to our graduates.”
