Phil Bartlett Addresses New England Energy Conference

Phil Bartlett, Senate Chair of the Utilities and Energy Committee,
appeared as a featured speaker at the recent ISO New England Fall
Conference. The theme of the conference, held in Boston, was “Lights,
Power, Action: Solutions for New England ’s Energy Future.” Phil's
topic was “Solutions Within Sight.”
“I was pleased to be asked to speak, and gratified by the attendance
at the conference,” Phil said. “We had a very good turnout,
and it was a wonderful opportunity for experts from throughout the region share
to ideas for improving our energy situation.”
Phil provided conference
attendees with an overview of recently enacted Maine legislation designed
to improve energy efficiency, expand renewable energy
in the state and reduce
price volatility. " Maine is at the forefront on these important issues," said
Phil. "The
Maine Legislature has worked in a bipartisan way to confront our energy challenges,
and we need to bring that same spirit to
intrastate
discussions."
ISO New England is the regional non-profit that handles
the distribution of electrical power throughout the region. The conference
focused on the
current
state of whole
energy markets, the challenges facing New England, and potential solutions
to those challenges.
